Quality of Education: Curriculum Statement

Intentions

  • Bespoke curriculum model matched for pupil need and cognitive ability level
  • Broad enough to give a wide range of learning experiences and opportunities to prepare for next phase
  • Personalised enough to give flexibility for every pupil in every subject area
  • Pupil teaching groups (classes) which are differentiated for learning ability or style
  • Motivating, meaningful subject specific programmes of study to suit pupil need for learning, in school and beyond, which allow for phases of development
  • Creation of assessment mapping, demonstrating pupil progress over time, and celebration of small steps

Implementation

  • Stand alone Early Years department, following a tailor made curriculum which prepares reception pupils for school and  learning in the next phase
  • Curriculum pathways which serve groups of pupils for their learning, now and with a destination in mind
  • Inclusion of EHCP targets in learning maps
  • Subject Specific learning which is weaved across the pathway model
  • Subject Programmes of study, which clearly map sequenced phases of knowledge and progression of skills; to be taught, developed, repeated and applied
  • Small teaching groups with high adult ratio learning support
  • Phonics and maths streaming
  • Quality teaching and learning, which is regularly monitored and evaluated by leaders
  • Progress and attainment monitored through daily formative assessment and termly pupil progress meetings
  • Systems of assessment which plot attainment and progress towards phases of learning
  • Close working with parents, dojo, workshops, training etc

Impact

  • Confident happy pupils who are keen to engage and learn at school and beyond
  • Parents who celebrate their child’s learning with us and tell us their child is safe and achieving
  • Pupils who are able to talk about and demonstrate what they have learnt and remember how to apply this
  • Collation of evidence of learning stored and shared to show progress journeys for every child
  • Pupils and families who leave us at the end of year 6 with the skills and strategies they need for their secondary school phase
